Our Process

Phase 3: Assess & Autonomize

Assessment of student progress is used throughout our sessions, but larger scale assessments are used at predetermined points to show growth and determine if goals have been met. Independence, confidence, and autonomy in the learning experience are practiced in this phase.

Assess

Assessments include post-tests linked to predetermined goals and curriculum, as well as surveys and interviews with students and parents/guardians.

Autonomize

The process of building autonomy and confidence in learning is one that looks different for every student. However, we use a blend of executive function techniques and metacognition awareness to help students become more aware of themselves as learners. The goal is for the learning process to continue long after our last session together.

Phase 1: Discover & Delineate

Initial: Free 30 Minute Discovery Session

During this initial session, we will have a discussion to learn more about your child, including:

Your child's strengths and challenge areas
Your child's academic history
Who your child is as a person
How your child learns best

We will then talk about options moving forward, and you can determine if those options are right for you and your family.

Discover

Included with paid sessions:

Diagnostic testing
Reviewing of most recent grades
Academic, social, and learning inventories & surveys
Initial interviews with student and parent

Add-on Services:

In-depth (>30 min) review of grades, IEPs, documents..........$50/hr
Communication with teachers, coaches, etc...........................$50/hr

Delineate

Included with paid sessions:

Results of diagnostic testing
Goal setting with timelines and checkpoints
Detailed outline of research-based curriculum alignment
Structured schedule & frequency options
Two 20 minute progress conferences scheduled (for packages and prepaid bundles)

Phase 2: Educate & Enlighten

Our carefully curated, individualized sessions use methods of explicit instruction, constructivism, and authentic learning. Student progress is monitored and feedback is frequently requested. These data points will be used to adjust instructional practices as needed.

Educate

Whether sessions are for academic tutoring, executive function coaching, or test preparation, all are personalized to the specific needs of each student. Sessions are conducted online using Zoom and are typically 1:1, unless otherwise communicated or requested.

Depending on each individual, we may utilize a research-based curriculum to follow with fidelity, or use a variety of materials to meet the specific needs of each student. Students may have homework assignments depending on each individual circumstance and desired goal.

Enlighten

Each session is an opportunity to learn more about each student and their specific needs and strengths! We will monitor progress and ask for feedback from the student and parents/guardians throughout the process. Short summaries of each session will be provided in the Learner Portal, along with any progress reports and data from assessments and activities.
